I write regularly about the technical side of development, and I take part in public discussions on the subjects the work runs through: historic preservation, housing, zoning and land use, construction, public space, and how expectations around residential development keep shifting. This page is the index of where that writing actually appears, which is the part worth being precise about.

The three writing channels do not repeat one another, which is deliberate and takes more effort than it sounds. The full index, with whatever went out most recently on each, is below.

It is technical writing rather than promotional writing. The reader I have in mind is someone facing a comparable problem on ground of their own, and who wants to know how a thing actually works rather than to be told that it is complicated. The recurring subjects are the movement of buildable capacity between parcels, the real reach of a preservation authority, and what happens structurally when a building is built at an unusual proportion.

The technical subjects are also collected and organised by mechanism on a separate site, which is the better starting point if you have arrived with a specific question rather than wanting to read chronologically.

I should be straightforward about what is not on this page. I am not listing speaking engagements, because I have not put a verified list of them on the record and I would rather have nothing here than something approximate. If that list is compiled, it will appear.
